Lucas Hakes' Website
Welcome to my personal website. Here, I'll post pictures from my adventures throughout Shikoku, Japan. If you like:
- cycling,
- hiking,
- trains, and more. . .
. . . then please stay tuned. For more information on traveling in and around Shikoku, I recommend consulting this Wikitravel entry, which serves as a portal to Shikoku's four prefectures and the attractions within.
The four prefectures of Shikoku are as follows (clockwise, from the North):
-
Kagawa-ken*
-
Tokushima-ken
-
Kochi-ken
-
Ehime-ken
*The "-ken" suffix indicates that the stated location is a prefecture of Japan. It is perfectly normal to omit "-ken" when talking about a prefecture in a normal, casual context.
About Lucas Hakes
Diet
- My wife and I are Vegetarians. When we lived in the United States, we were both Vegan. However, as it is very difficult to not consume animal products in Japan -- while living economically and healthily -- we have resigned to Vegetarianism.
- I do not drink alcohol nor do I drink soda. I only drink water and the occasional nutrition smoothie.
Fashion
- I always have essential undergarments prepared for my wardrobe. Every day, I put on a fresh pair of socks, fresh underpants, and a fresh undershirt (v-neck). This three-pronged system forms the on-rails system from which I design my outerwear.
- For health reasons, as well as ecological reasons, I carry a fresh handkerchief with me every day. These are good cotton handkerchiefs, made in Japan, that I use for sneezing, coughing, tears, perhaps blood, and any other things I find leaking from my face. Handkerchiefs are far less wasteful than tissues, and they are more convenient, as they don't need to be stored on your person until you can find a proper trash recepticle.
